UNITED KINGDOM
WTM

Planning has begun for WTM and all participants are urged to supply JTB UK with news and story ideas that can be included in the press pack and Jordan news that is sent to target tour operators. Activity includes the second travel agent training day on Thursday 15th November when over 60 travel agents are expected to attend the JTB stand for dedicated training and lunch.
Sales and Marketing Plan 2008

JTB London will formulate the 2008 marketing plan for Jordan with the focus on driving sales through the travel trade with a number of travel agent Fam trips, targeted advertising with specific trade call to action and the promotion of Jordan in all target markets.
Travel Agent Fam Trip (22nd - 28th November)

Following a successful travel agent roadshow in July 15 agents were hand picked to visit Jordan for a cultural tour FAM trip. The trip has been sponsored by Royal Jordanian, Le Meridien and Moevenpick Hotels who will host the agents. This follows a very successful agents Fam trip in March, which has already created bookings for Jordan. The tour of Jordan will include all the main sites as well as an overnight in Wadi Rum.
October

JTB UK will co-ordinate and host a general cultural tour press trip and invite media from across the UK from target regional and national press. The trip will highlight the very best that Jordan has to offer Jerash, Madaba / Mount Nebo, Dana, Petra, Wadi Rum, Aqaba reefs and the Dead Sea, as well as excellent cuisine and traditional Jordanian hospitality. Journalists will experience the security and warmth of Jordan directly following the month of Ramadan.
Men's Lifestyle Magazines Trip (April 2008)

JTB UK will co-ordinate and host a press trip (Men's Lifestyle Magazines Trip) aimed at young men with high disposable income for adrenalin fuelled adventure holidays including, hiking, trekking, climbing, canyoning, horse riding, camel rides and diving. This is a growing market in UK outbound tourism and will attract new adventure operators to Jordan and provide opportunities to provide new packages to Jordan.
Pre Wedding Celebrations and Honeymoons Trip (March 2008)

JTB will co-ordinate and host a press trip for specialist bridal/groom media highlighting the activities available in Jordan, for pre wedding celebrations and honeymoons. These trips will include, Dead Sea spa hotels, Petra, Wadi Rum and promote Jordan as a romantic yet fun filled honey moon and pre wedding celebration destination.
Sep/ oct

JTB UK will issue a consumer and tour operator newsletter in September and October, which is sent to over 6,000 consumers, travel agents and media. The newsletter is written and edited by Matthew Teller, Author of the Rough Guide to Jordan and respected freelance travel journalist. The newsletter links to the tour operator page on the www.visitjordan.com/uk website. Each month a competition gives people the chance to win books or prizes from Jordan, which is usually sponsored by a third party. So far Rough Guide has donated 5 copies of the current book on Jordan. Sponsors for future issues include, Cicerone - Walks and Treks in Wadi Rum, Wanderlust Magazine - 5 free subscriptions for 1 year, Dave Saunders - Jordan A Timeless Land, Virago - Married to a Bedouin.
26 September – 1 October

JTB UK will co-ordinate and host a “7 Wonders” themed press trip for journalists following the announcement of Petra as a new 7th Wonder of the World. This press trip is based on 2.5 days in Petra giving the journalists the opportunity to explore more areas of Petra and enjoy the beauty of Petra by Night and the wonderful experience of entering Petra from Little Petra. Confirmed publications include, Bella and Closer Magazines and the Evening Standard.
September – November

JTB UK has planned an advertising campaign for the autumn period running from September to November. The plan includes, national press, consumer magazines and online promotions targeting consumers through the UK travel trade.
