New passenger terminal to be ready in 2011

A $700 million project to rehabilitate and expand the Queen Alia International Airport is expected to come to an end in August 2011 with the opening of a new passenger terminal.

The project is part of a 25-year concession agreement, in which Airport International Group (AIG) will be responsible for airport operations, the rehabilitation of existing facilities and the construction of the new passenger terminal.

The project will be carried out in two phases, the first of which will end in 2010 raising the airport’s total capacity to nine million passengers annually. The second phase will raise the capacity to 12 million passengers.
