“Jordan Tuesdays” Become a Hit UNESCO Activity
JTB Spain has been working for the past three years with several cultural organizations in Barcelona including the “Friends of UNESCO” to include Jordan as a conference theme. The efforts paid off when the UNESCO, the Government of Catalonia, Friends of UNESCO, and JTB Spain formally presented Jordan in UNESCO’s cycle of 12 conferences last year. The response was so great that an encore was requested this year.
The Mayor of Barcelona H.E. Jordi Hereu has sent invitations to the conference where a 66 page brochure will be printed with the theme of 'Tuesdays of Jordan'.
The conferences kicked off with “Jordan : Introduction to a country rich in culture and the cradle of civilization” a presentation by Doctor Salvador Claramunt, Professor at the University of Barcelona. Some of the other conferences include “Wadi Rum: A look at a place that has seen the world grow” by Mr. Enrique Rodriguez Vega, Director of News Agency, Journalist and writer; “Two old cities of Jordan: Amman and Jerash” by Professor Isabel Roda from the Department of Science and Antiquities; “Petra: splendor of an old civilization” by Doctor Xavier Ballestin Navarro; “Islamism: The borders beyond the Land of the Prophet” by Professor Merce Viladrich, Arab studies and Islamism; in addition to many other lectures that cover Jordan as the land of the old testament, the Bedouins, the safety of Jordan and its history. |
