JTB Participated in Destination Management Conference
Representatives from the Jordan Tourism Board and the Greater Amman Municipality attended a conference entitled “Destination Management: Creating a competitive advantage for your destination” 7-9 of February, 2007 in Budapest, Hungary.
The conference was held by the United Nations World Tourism Organization in cooperation with the Hungarian Tourism Board and was attended by more than 60 representative countries and tourism boards.
This conference covered significant issues some of which fall in light with the Amman Master Plan recently launched by GAM. JTB and GAM have initiated a working relation where the JTB can help market Amman as a ‘city break’ tourist destination.
Presenters from different tourism boards and local governorates displayed their experiences in changing their destinations (cities, towns, regions…) to become more attractive. Means such as proper urban planning, product development, gastronomy, MICE and effective promotion were adopted to achieve the main target of creating a competitive advantage for these destinations, and all under the guidelines of sustainable development. |
