RJ passenger numbers rise 20% in the first eight months of 2008
Royal Jordanian has carried 295,000 passengers during August, 16% more than the same period in 2007.
Statistics released by RJ showed that the seat factor grew from 81% to 82% in August, while the number of RJ departures went up by 13% to 3,364 flights during the same period.
Results of the first 8 months of the year were positive in various operational indicators. The number of passengers transported by RJ during that period reached 1.8 million compared to 1.5 million passengers transported in the fist 8 months of 2007, constituting a 20% increase. The seat factor grew by 3%, going up from 71% to 74%, while departures increased by 16%, flying hours by 17%, aircraft km by 17% and uplifted cargo 22%.
President/CEO Samer Majali said despite the positive operational results, financial results where not at the same level due to the huge increase in fuel prices during the first 8 months of the year.
Mr. Majali expressed hope that declining fuel prices will be reflected on fuel costs, which in August represented 49% of total RJ operational costs, compared to 33% in august of 2007. |
