RJ and ADC Agree to Operate Two Daily Flights Between Aqaba and Amman
Royal Jordanian and the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), the central development corporation of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZA) that includes King Hussein International Airport, signed an agreement to operate two daily flights between Aqaba and Queen Alia International Airport-Amman as of February 1, 2007. Flights from Amman to Aqaba are scheduled at 7:30 am and 5:00 pm, and flights from Aqaba to Amman are scheduled at 9:00 am and 6:30 pm.
President/CEO Samer Majali signed the agreement with Imad Fakhoury, ADC's chairman and CEO. The agreement stipulates that tourist chartered flights coming into King Hussein International Airport will be given a 50% discount on the ground handling fees. In addition, regular flights will be given a 10–25% discount on the ground handling fees, based on the number of weekly flights.
Majali highlighted the importance of connecting Aqaba and Amman by daily flights: "This step is a translation of our commitment to serve Jordan, and its citizens, tourists and visitors to Aqaba. This agreement is in line with RJ's new vision of becoming the 'airline of choice’ that connects Jordan and the Levant with the rest of the world."
The agreement also stipulates that the airline will upgrade its systems and ground and aircraft handling techniques to ensure the highest levels of service is offered both aircraft and passengers at the King Hussein International Airport. |
