Petra was the site of a special memorial concert for the late international tenor icon Luciano Pavarotti.

The charity concert was attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania and HRH Princess Haya. It was also attended by a large crowd of international celebrities including Pavarotti's wife Nicoletta and British musician Sting, who gathered at the historical site to pay tribute to the artist.

The event, which also coincides with Pavarotti’s birthday, was a memorial charity concert that raised money for projects in Afghanistan by UNHCR and the UN World Food Program.
