Issue No. 5 - February 2007 |
 |
The Reliving the Petra Experience event organized by the Jordan Tourism Board in Petra on January 16th was a milestone in the development of the tourism product in Jordan (read detailed story in inside pages). It is sought that this event will be a continuous show in Petra for Jordanian and foreign visitors alike. The goal of the event is to give the visitor the look and feel of what it was like to live in Petra over 2000 years ago. Many ideas have developed since the first event that will enhance the experience tremendously. Along with the Roman Chariot Experience in Jerash, the Reliving the Petra Experience will greatly contribute to visitors enjoyment of their stay in the country. The new Jordan Heritage Foundation, soon to be announced, will carry the Petra event into the future as well as establish many similar events in a number of historic sites throughout Jordan.
We strongly believe that these efforts will play a major role in increasing the growth rate of visitors to Jordan and especially repeat visitors and diversifying the source markets for Jordan.
The JTB summary marketing plans have been made available to members on the JTB B2B site. The document is basically a road map of everything the JTB is planning for 2007 in all the major source markets. Members were invited to visit the JTB offices to view the detailed marketing plan if they wish. The document, if used efficiently by members, can greatly enhance JTB's international market position. Information such as exhibitions, road shows, available co-marketing activities, advertising campaigns are mentioned in those plans. Members are strongly encouraged to share the information with their partners in their markets.
Wishing you all a wonderful spring season,

Mazen Homoud
Managing Director.
