LETTER FROM
THE DIRECTOR
Dear Members and Friends,
The
second
Jordan
Travel Mart
was held at
the Dead Sea
between the
22nd and the
24th of
February
under the
patronage of
Her Majesty
Queen Rania
Al-Abdullah,
and with the
participation
of buyers of
tourism
products and
services
from the
USA, Canada,
Mexico,
Central
America, and
South
America.
Against the
backdrop of
the lowest
spot on
earth, the
100 “buyers”
had 2 days
of meetings,
seminars and
workshops,
which
brought them
together
with
Jordanian
“suppliers”
representing
60 hotels,
receptive
operators,
and other
Travel
Services in
the Kingdom.
The success
of last
year’s event
was
positively
reflected
both in
terms of
increasing
tourist
numbers from
the
Americas, as
well as in
the interest
to attend
this annual
event from
both the
American and
Jordanian
sides.
In light of
the enormous
success of
this year’s
event, we
are glad to
announce the
holding of
the 3rd JTM
in 2010, at
a time to be
decided
later this
year. We, at
JTB, are
also pleased
to announce
that we are
considering
building on
the Jordan
Travel
Mart’s
success by
expanding
this
increasingly
popular
tourism
gathering to
include
European
buyers.
On another
note, we are
looking
forward to
an important
date on our
calendar. On
May 8th,
Jordan will
welcome Pope
Benedict XVI
who will
spend 4 days
in the
Kingdom as
part of a
tour of the
Holy Land.
During this
landmark
visit, the
pope is
expected to
visit the
Baptism
site, where
Jesus Christ
has been
baptized by
John the
Baptist, and
to lay the
corner stone
for the
Latin Church
at the Site,
in addition
to other
Holy sites
in Jordan.
We hope the
success of
this visit
will firmly
place Jordan
on the
Christian
pilgrimage
itinerary,
especially
with being
home to 5
holy sites
that were
designated
by the
Vatican as
Millennium
2000
pilgrimage
sites.
Welcome to
this new
edition of
JTBwire.
Mr.
Nayef
Al-Fayez
Managing
Director.
