Steve Mccurry's :-
Steve McCurry's photographs capture
the very essence of human experience.
Many of them have become modern icons
and his work is shown in publications
the world over as an uncompromising
testimony. 15 works will be shown in the
New Library.
Even though the Iran- Iraq war dragged
on for the better part of a decade with
a million people lost, when I
photographed Baghdad in 1985, everything
in the city seemed normal. People
shopped, children went to school, street
vendors hawked their goods, and carpets
with Saddam's likeness were draped over
railings waiting for someone to purchase
them. It was difficult to believe that
an incredibly destructive war was raging
and would end with little or nothing
resolved. No one could have predicted
that just a few years later, Iraq would
invade Kuwait which would mobilize a
coalition from around the world.
